Carbon-13 (C13) nuclear magnetic resonance (most commonly known as carbon-13 NMR spectroscopy or 13C NMR spectroscopy or sometimes simply referred to as carbon NMR) is the application of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to carbon. It is analogous to proton NMR ( NMR) and allows the identification of carbon atoms in an organic molecule just as proton NMR identifies hydrogen atoms.

  • H]] atoms in ethyl acetate regarding NMR. The hydrogens (H) on the CH3COO- ([[acetate]]) group are not coupling with the other H atoms and appear as a singlet, but the -CH2- and -CH3 hydrogens of the [[ethyl group]] (-CH2CH3) are coupling with each other, resulting in a quartet and triplet respectively.

Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (proton NMR, hydrogen-1 NMR, or 1H NMR) is the application of nuclear magnetic resonance in NMR spectroscopy with respect to hydrogen-1 nuclei within the molecules of a substance, in order to determine the structure of its molecules.R.

Platinum-195 NMR; 195Pt NMR; Platinum NMR
Platinum-195 nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (platinum NMR or 195Pt NMR) is a spectroscopic technique which is used for the detection and characterisation of platinum compounds. The sensitivity of the technique and therefore its diagnostic utility have increased significantly starting from the 1970s, with 195Pt NMR nowadays considered the method of choice for structural elucidation of Pt species in solution.

NMR in Biomedicine

NMR in Biomedicine is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal published since 1988 by John Wiley & Sons. It publishes original full-length papers, rapid communications, and review articles in which magnetic resonance spectroscopy or imaging methods are used to investigate physiological, biochemical, biophysical, or medical problems. The current editor-in-chief is John R. Griffiths (Cancer Research UK).
